How Did it all Start?
Hi, Faith Mcfluff here, I just want to say thank you for coming to my site!
I began designing clothing as a curious toddler growing up in her parent's drapery studio. I would make "dresses" with a stapler and small scraps of cloth found on cutting room floor. When I was 4 years old a neighbor gave me my first sewing machine and I have not stopped sewing since!
Although I grew up sewing with fine silks and velvets, I enjoy working with recycled materials the most. The world has a lot of clothing in landfills, so why not take something old, and turn it into something new? Your mom's hideous sweater with the padded shoulders could become a wonderful scarf. An old yoga mat or discarded bicycle tube can easily become a waterproof lining.
I have had the pleasure to work on some fun projects outside of Rock Star Rehab as well. I was the costume designer and head of hair, make-up and wardrobe to the Sundance film "The Taqwacores". I have also had the pleasure of outfitting such bands as The Parliament Funkadelic, The Kominas and Irish pop sensation Seneca. I also make all of the costumes for Hypnophonic Performance (along with being one of their fire-dance divas).
Currently I work on one-of-a-kind pieces in my Cleveland studio. I can often be seen on the streets of Cleveland wheeling around a rack of clothing or hula hoops. When I am not, I am usually found riding my bike to the thrift store, playing on the playground, or cooking fabulous food with locally sourced ingredients.
